"The language advisor is a professional who assists and gives learners advice on finding the best possible personalized learning pathway to reach their language objectives. Therefore, he/she facilitates (rather than directs) a learner’s personal learning plan and self-directed learning process when required."

This guidebook will be of interest to those who wish to learn more about the professional practice of language advising and/or the facilitation of self-directed language learning, including in the workplace.
It was produced by L2 Paths (Pathways to Host Country Language for Migrants). This EU-funded project (2014-16) aimed to create a methodology for providing language advice to migrants in order to enhance their integration and employability. The project's partners came from Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia and Sweden.

Two leaflets offering strategies and practical tips to help public service organisations to address language barriers when supporting clients with limited language skills.
Kommunikation in Jobcentern is aimed at managers and staff in job centres. Kommunikation in der Verwaltung is aimed at staff in local administrations.
Each leaflet has two sides. One offers suggestions to managers on how to support their staff with everyday communication with clients. The other offers tips to staff.
The leaflets also invite readers to reflect on their own communication style, in what is today becoming an increasingly multicultural and transnational working environment.

On-line since 2012, the website is divided into areas: Language, Work, Housing, Minors and second generations, Health. Intercultural mediation is added as a cross-section service.
In each area, the portal allows users to find useful information on the services provided to migrants in different parts of Italy.
The portal is available in Italian and English.

This paper describes the ‘My Plan’ non-directive coaching approach.
'My Plan' is a weekly group conversation developed for a group of low-skilled workers on a course of Dutch at the workplace.
My Plan adapts the GROW model of coaching to help learners become more aware of their motivation and goals, to develop confidence and to take ownership of their own learning.

Flyer advertising professional development scheme to equip teachers of L2 German to support work-related language learning.
The scheme prepares L2 teachers in centres of adult education for new tasks and roles in work-related provision, where they face learning and teaching contexts and activities different from the ones they are used to, e. g. designing customised curricula, developing teaching materials, adapting own teaching plans to company’s working schedules, e. g. shifts, communicating / cooperating with labour market actors, etc., negotiating aims between different actors with different aims.
