Language advising - the role of the language advisor (2016)
L2 Paths (2016), The role of language advisor: A guidebook, L2 Paths, Galway, http://www.l2paths.eu
"The language advisor is a professional who
assists and gives learners advice on finding
the best possible personalized learning pathway
to reach their language objectives. Therefore, he/she
facilitates (rather than directs) a learner’s personal
learning plan and self-directed learning process when required."
This guidebook will be of interest to those who wish to learn more about the professional practice of language advising and/or the facilitation of self-directed language learning, including in the workplace.
It was produced by L2 Paths (Pathways to Host Country Language for Migrants). This EU-funded project (2014-16) aimed to create a methodology for providing language advice to migrants in order to enhance their integration and employability. The project's partners came from Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia and Sweden.
Other resources (including a guide to setting up an advice centre) are available from the project website.
